R.A.B. Origin Story

Rahman Ali Bugg is an experienced television producer with credits that span many formats, genres and networks. With notable supervisor/coordinator credits on music performance shows like VH1’s Hip Hop Honors, The YouTube Music Awards, MTV Woodies 2016, and most recently BET's Freestyle Friday Livestream event in 2018. Rahman’s live format experience is proven and respected across broadcast and digital platforms. His work on Viceland’s King of The Road Finale, VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: The Wedding and BET’s 20 of 2015 End Of Year Special as well as the BET News Millennial initiative: What’s At Stake, illustrate his ability to tackle any audience, budget, format, genre as well as most brand/network styles of storytelling.

Rahman’s hands-on leadership approach to producing and developing ideas makes him a more than capable producer/director on a set as well as in an edit. This combination of skill, talent and collaborative instinct proves an invaluable asset in his roles as an executive producer/showrunner.

His informed leadership and creativity led him to an NABJ Award for his contributions to the BET’s Hip Hop vs America News Special and most recently a 2015 Cynopsis Social Good Award for the aforementioned, What’s At Stake digital series. In addition to laudable ratings achievements throughout his busy career, Rahman’s body of work and breadth of experience have always been his calling card within the fast-evolving world of media and content creation.

Weaving through the landscape of formats and media companies as a free-spirited media professional, who prides himself on having a diverse career that also focuses on the experience, stories and perspective of African-Americans and Hip-Hop culture, is not as easy as it reads in a run-on sentence, but Rahman has managed the course of his career to do that and then some throughout his storied career.

Currently, Rahman serves as Creative Director for PopStar Media Inc, whose credits include the short films Tastes Like Medicine and Shades of Brooklyn Vol.1 as well as the TV One Special, Top R&B Divas of All-Time and other projects.

1 of 12 children born & raised in Paterson New Jersey, Rahman holds a BA from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications and often speaks to and mentors students there and throughout the New York Metro area. A community-oriented human, Rahman resides in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn where he enjoys spending his non-tv time mentoring youth in Bed-Stuy via the K.A.V.I. program (Kings Against Violence) program. He serves on the board of directors for Nomadic Explorers  - a Brooklyn-based non-profit organization that teaches low-income kids the importance of travel through mentorship and travel experiences.
